Polarization is something instrumental for democracies and a healthy public debate... But when does it become detrimental instead?

In this workshop, Wies Ruyters and Mariska van Dam, researchers of political communication at WUR, will give you a deep dive into a topic that generates more and more media attention by the day: polarization. We aim to answer some burning questions: what is it, why does it matter, which scientific insights do we have, when is it problematic, and what can we do about it (if we should)? For extra engagement, we will also simulate a polarized discussion on a true Wageningen topic.
